Tension has enveloped the Imafon community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State following the daring abduction of a farm manager, Afolabi Ajayi, by suspected gunmen in a broad daylight attack.

The incident reportedly occurred around 10:30 a.m. on Monday when the victim arrived at a poultry farm to oversee daily operations.

Eyewitnesses said moments after stepping out of his vehicle, armed men suddenly emerged from nearby bushes and forcefully dragged him into the forest.

A family source disclosed that the incident has left relatives and farm workers in deep distress, adding that as of the time of this report, the abductors had yet to make contact or demand any ransom.

“He only came to inspect activities at the farm, and before anyone could react, the gunmen appeared and whisked him away,” the source recounted.

The matter was promptly reported to security agencies, triggering an immediate response from the police.

Confirming the development, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, stated that tactical teams have been deployed to the area to facilitate the victim’s rescue and track down the culprits.

According to him, “The command received a report of a kidnapping incident at Ilado, where a farmer was abducted while carrying out his duties.

In response, additional security personnel have been mobilized and are currently combing the surrounding forest to rescue the victim and apprehend those responsible.”

He further assured residents that all necessary measures are being taken, with the safety of the victim as a top priority, adding that updates will be provided as the situation develops.

Meanwhile, concerned residents have decried the recurring security challenges in the area, urging authorities to intensify efforts to stem the rising tide of kidnappings across the state.
