1. Tension gripped Owo LGA as gunmen kidnapped a respected community leader and left his wife injured.

At about 8:05 p.m., roughly six armed men stormed the home of 60-year-old Chief Adeniyi Adelana, the Baale of Ode Oriya Village. They opened fire, dragged him into nearby bushes, and disappeared with him to an unknown location.

His wife was hit by a bullet in the right hand during the attack. Security operatives rescued her quickly and rushed her to a nearby hospital. Doctors say she’s responding well to treatment.

The Ondo State Police Command moved fast. The DPO of B Division, Owo, led a joint team to the scene right after the distress call. They secured the area, started investigations, and launched a full search-and-rescue operation.

Right now, tactical units and intelligence officers are combing forests, bush paths, and all suspected escape routes around Owo and neighboring communities. The Commissioner of Police has ordered every unit to focus on rescuing the Baale alive and arresting the kidnappers.

The Command assured residents they’re committed to bringing Chief Adelana home safely and making sure the attackers face justice. Security has also been beefed up across Owo to prevent further attacks.

Police are asking residents to stay calm, continue their normal activities, and report any suspicious movements. Any credible information, they said, could help bring this to a quick end.
